SHPAD Briefs MSPs Ahead of Stage 1 Vote in Scotland

Ahead of the Scottish Parliament’s Stage 1 vote on the Assisted Dying For Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill next week (13 May), Scottish Healthcare Professionals for Assisted Dying have shared a briefing with MSPs outlining our basis for supporting this Bill.

Our briefing emphasises the widespread and growing support in the medical community for a change in the law, as well as offering reassurance that a legal assisted dying regime could operate safely within existing medical practice, and highlighting areas where further training support and legal clarity for practitioners may be beneficial.

You can download the brief in full here. If you’d like to learn more about any of the issues it discusses, you can get in touch by emailing info@shpad.org
